The Outerbridge Crossing - From the Grove was done from my hometown in Sewaren. The original is part of a private collection. Cliff Road in Sewaren runs along the Arthur Kill and neighbors some of the petroleum storage facilities and refineries. This was where I spent my warm summer evenings in my teen years with friends watching the pleasure crafts and ships float by. There was and is still a boat launch that will bring the recreation and fishing boats out to Raritan Bay and beyond. This was where the older teens, (the older ones with cars) would park with their dates, to watch the “Submarine races” until the police would patrol and make them leave. I was originally going to title the painting, “A Night at the Races”, but figured no-one would get the reference.

At the docks and facilities in neighboring Perth Amboy the Crude Oil vessels would dock to discharge their product where it would be refined.
